tumblr_lyqpffnjxs1qfet8co1_500… it’s HOW you go through it —

that makes ALL the difference in the world.

You always have a choice as to how you show up in life. It’s important to remember that everything is interrelated. Every action you take, every decision you make determines your NEXT experience.

Think before you act. Think before you put energy into motion. If you react negatively towards a situation, you’ll only succeed in drawing more negative circumstances to you. Whereas if you consciously react positively towards a situation, you’ll increase the likelihood of attracting more positive circumstances to you. It is the way the universe works.

We all go through difficult times, the question is HOW do you get through them? You always have a choice. You can either play the victim and blame others for your misfortune and become angry, resentful and jaded OR you can become the master of your life and learn to dance in the rain with acceptance, grace and trust.

All storms need to be weathered. How do YOU show up in the rain? Do you get soaked or do you learn to laugh your way through it? Crying in the rain ONLY gets you wet. Laughing your way through it ensures that the sun will come out again.

th… is a natural cycle of life.

Not every relationship is meant to last forever.

Not every person is meant to be in your life forever.

People come in an out of your life for a reason and once that reason is served, they are free to move on… and it’s imperative that they move on.

People in your life are like trees… Some are like the leaves, they sway back and forth in the breeze and never seem to be a stable presence in your life and then they wither and die off. Some are like the branches, they have a slightly more sturdy presence in your life but may give way and betray you if you step out too far on them. And some are the roots, the roots are the people who are foundational in your life and will stand the test of time.

But not everyone in your life is a root. Nor are they meant to be.

Most people are seasonal and come into your life to teach you certain things, inspire you, or support you on your path, and then that season is over…. and they are gone. They have to leave because they move with the seasons.

The seasons understand letting go – it happens naturally. But people fight this natural process and try to hold onto the season long after it has gone. It is important to understand that truly loving someone means letting them go when you realize the season has changed.

So leaving is a natural part of the loving process. You always have to make space for the next love to come in (both for yourself and for your partner). Don’t hold on too long to a dying leaf or a broken branch, offer it up to new growth. Recognize that you may be sad during that winter of your life, but know that spring is always just around the corner. Loving and leaving is a natural cycle of life. Love isn’t always forever, but its lessons last a lifetime.

th-5… leave it there.

No need to carry it forward.

New years are just that – they are for having A NEW YEAR. But we make it a habit of packing up what didn’t work this year and slinging it over our shoulders and bringing it forward into the new year – as if it will somehow magically change? It doesn’t. It is the same dysfunction just another year later and another year wasted.

If a part of your life is consistently not working and keeping you back, then the new year ahead is the time to make change. Resolutions are set to free us from the binds that tie us.

Take stock of what isn’t working this year, so you can find what will. Don’t sit back and watch your life idly pass you by. Every new year is a year to make change and create the life of your dreams.

If it hasn’t been working in 2015 (and in years past), it will most likely NOT work in 2016. Cut your losses and change direction. Decide what you can leave in this current year and create the space to bring in new energy. You already know what things look like this year and if you do not create the space for change, next year will be an obvious repeat. Do you want to make it a happy new year? Then truly move forward and make it A NEW YEAR.
