When you are with others, you have NO idea.

Being alone at any stage in your life represents an enforced separation. It is the universe’s way of giving you space to reflect and help you work out something that you would otherwise not see.

In life we tend to “busy” ourselves from looking in the mirror and doing our work. When lovers, friends and/or jobs get taken away from you, it is a sign that a part of your life needs attention. Once your plate is cleared and there is some space, you can begin to see what needs to be healed.

Being alone is one of the greatest gifts the universe can bestow upon us. It gives us the space to process our life path and gives us the clarity we need to make changes that will help us to move forward in the right direction. Don’t rush to “busy yourself” when you find yourself alone. You will miss the opportunity to heal the part of yourself that has been screaming for attention. When you are with others, those parts of ourselves get buried in favor of prioritizing others’ needs or others’ behaviors.

Enjoy your alone time and give gratitude for the opportunity to allow yourself to heal. It is in that space of being alone that great change comes about. And it is only through being alone that you can see where you really are in life. Embrace your alone time and use it as the stepping stone to take stock of the rest of your life. Oddly enough, spending time alone is really the only way to find true happiness with all others.

chart-9… make EVERYTHING complicated.

The energy you put out into the world is the exact energy you get back. So why not try and make things easier on yourself?

Complicated people make things difficult for themselves because of the way they show up in life. When you learn how to relax into stressful situations, you moderate the outcomes. Things get easier when you choose the simpler path. Most of us do not know how to do this because we think more is better. More is never better, it is just more. And if anything, it makes things more complicated and sets an energetic pattern of resistance into play for you.

Here’s a tip: there is no need to over-think situations and no need to over-plan situations. The most successful solutions are ALWAYS the SIMPLEST.

Remember complicated people create complicated relationships and complicated situations. Their lives become complicated by their own hand. Recognize that you are in control and if you want things to be less stressful and more relaxed, learn to streamline.

Simplifying calms and soothes your experience. Complications create disharmony and chaos.

Your life is up to you. You have a choice everyday as to how you are going to show up. Are you going to stress yourself out by trying to do everything at once or are you going to pare back and take the path that optimizes your resources and time? Learn to streamline your life and everything will be less complicated.

… why make things harder?

Life is meant to be easy, we are the ones who complicate it. Our human minds are so complex and capable of such great things, and as a result, we simply know too much. We overcomplicate things and over-think things. Always remember – the simplest answer is the best solution. 

We complicate many things for ourselves. In fact, believe it or not, we relish complicating things. Many of us have made a habit out of creating problems where none should exist. You might be saying, “I don’t do that,” but if you have ever forced your agenda on someone because you want things to be a certain way, you are indeed complicating things.

Things are what they are. We add complications when we try to hyper-control an outcome or demand things to be a certain way or have set expectations of the way something should be. Why not just let life be? Why create complications and set up a retaliatory position such that “I will not be happy unless this happens.” If that is your position in life, trust me you will never be happy.

Everything is energy and when you are putting the energy of complication out into the universe (through demands, expectations, unwillingness to compromise, etc…), the universe boomerangs it right back in the form of delivering more complicated situations and people into your life to answer what it assumes you are asking for.

Like attracts like. If you want a more easeful existence, work on putting out ease and grace into the world. Don’t need life to be a certain way for you to be happy. Know that the qualities you are sowing now are the seeds that will deliver the future to your doorstep. Sometimes life feels difficult enough, if we add to it by putting out complicated behavior, we are only creating more of a challenge for ourselves. Life can be complicated, but you do not have to be. 

The time has come to lighten our load – be less complicated. Treat life with more ease of being and then sit back and truly enjoy a more easeful existence.

… one step at a time. That is all that is required of you.

As a baby or a young toddler, we naturally find sources of happiness –  a mother’s embrace, a climb on a jungle gym, a push on a swing, a cup of chocolate milk, etc… All these things so simple, yet have the capability of making a baby or a toddler very happy.

Life is simple yet our expectations as adults have become so complicated and demanding. Everyday we think we need more and more to be happy. We don’t need more and more to be happy. We need only to allow ourselves to be who we are. We need to slow down, recognize where we have gotten to, from where we came, take a breath and be grateful for where we are in life. We subscribe to the “click here” path to instant satisfaction. And when it is not there, or when we have to wait longer than we would like to, we become disillusioned and think that our lives are falling apart.

Everything does not happen all at once. Life is a process and so is your happiness. In order to appreciate happiness, I assure you, you will have to be dragged through the mud first. That mud bath is going to give you the most radiant skin and teach you well how to navigate across those mud holes the next time around.

Today’s world is filled with so much stimuli that it distracts from finding happiness. We are learning at younger and younger ages that we should have things faster – better – bigger – cheaper and delivered to our door. Our expectations for what it takes to make us contented and comfortable have been blown way out of proportion.

If you want to be truly happy, slow down and be in the moment. Take that cat nap. Sit on a park bench and enjoy the breeze on a warm day. Give gratitude for where you have gotten in life. This is the way to assure that more comes your way. But when you are running around trapped in your head day after day, you are only frenetically pushing the concept of happiness farther and farther away from you. Shift your energy towards gratitude and watch every step yield you more happiness. Babies know how to do this naturally. They never chastise themselves for not walking faster or farther, earlier in life. They are happy that they could take one step closer to that cookie. We have much to learn from them.

Remember, baby steps to happiness – slowing down is a process. Less is more. Less is always more.

… by creating SPACE.

We make things harder than they have to be. We tend to create lots of physical clutter in our spaces and that always translates to mental and emotional clutter. We are energetic beings and we are highly sensitive to our surroundings. Everything is energy. The energy of clutter weighs very heavy on the nervous system and stimulates a level of discomfort and confusion in our minds. When we create space in our physical surroundings (by clearing off our desks or cleaning out our closets or throwing away knick-knacks from display spaces), we create a sense of space to breathe and BE. This newfound physical space translates directly into a mental space of ease. The less you own, the lighter you feel.

The way it works is that physical clutter stimulates the mental response of “confusion and chaos is near at hand” and the emotional response is generally a level of unease which roughly translates to either increased states of anxiety or the opposite – lethargy and laziness. Either way, as energetic beings, our surroundings dictate our moods. If you want to be happy and easeful in your life, SIMPLY THINGS. Get rid of clutter and objects that have no importance to you. Creating space in our lives helps to create space in our minds and hearts. Learn to lessen your load so life can become happier and much more easeful.
