… are diametrically opposed.

The virtuous are naturally honorable. They operate for the betterment of others and for the world around them. They uphold values that reflect their high morals and integrity. They operate under a ‘service to others’ operandi. And most importantly, they do not seek recognition for their values. They do the right thing because it’s the right thing to do. They ARE the virtue they hold; it comes naturally from within themselves.

The righteous want to be seen as honorable. They operate for the betterment of themselves. They uphold values that are seen as moral and uphold a value system that is validated by a given group or ideology. These people operate purely as ‘service to self’ and ultimately seek validation and recognition outside themselves for upholding these values. They have a need to prove to others that the values they hold are held in high regard. Their validation comes from outside themselves; it comes from consensus and group think.

The virtuous have nothing to prove to others, whereas the righteous feel the need to convince you of the validity of their position.

The virtuous has no need to be seen as “right” in the eyes of others whereas the righteous need the validation of others in order to feel as if they are living right.

The virtuous respect and accept all beings for who they are, regardless of their opinions or means of expression, whereas the righteous will only accept you if you are beholden to the values they espouse.

Where do you fall along the spectrum? What is your motivation for the values you hold? These days our society is trending with ‘virtue signaling’ behavior. Is that virtuous or is it righteous? You decide.

… NEVER works.

Waiting around for others to make a decision that affects you, takes away your power.

Never give anyone power over your life to decide your future. If you’re waiting on someone else to make a decision over your Plan A, make sure you have an EVEN BETTER Plan B and C in place.

You’re in control of your destiny, no one else is. Waiting on others to decide your future is a slippery slope. Putting anyone in the power position over your life puts you in the back seat. Get back into the driver seat of your own life and steer it home.

It’s ok to temporarily wait on someone else’s decision, it’s NOT OK to put your life ON HOLD while someone else decides your fate. Take back control over your life, have viable alternate options laid out for you and ready to rock once the decision is made and don’t look back.

Don’t spend time lamenting someone else’s decision over you, if the decision wasn’t in your favor, that option wasn’t in your best interest or aligned with your highest good — let it go. Move on to your personal Plan B and make it A-worthy.

Putting your destiny in other’s hands NEVER works. Why give someone else power/authority over you to decide your fate? Your life is yours. Never be without a plan you can love and never accept a plan you can’t live with. It’s your life. Don’t let anyone else live it.

th-1… rewrite a new one.

We all have our own stories about our lives – past, present and future. But what we don’t realize is that we are in control of those stories. If we feel they are limiting us or holding us back, we can rewrite them and give them a new ending.

You are never controlled by your story, you are the author of it and it’s yours to rewrite over and over again. In other words, you’re never limited by the circumstances of your life, because you’re creating them at every juncture. So if you do not like how your story’s been playing out, reframe it, see it from a different perspective, one which empowers you, rather than disempowers you.

Just because something is true, doesn’t mean it has to become your truth. If it doesn’t fit your vision of who you are/who you want to be, then rewrite it. You may not be where you want to be in your life, but that doesn’t mean you have to accept being in a hole either.

Is your glass half empty or half full? It’s the same glass with the same water content, the only difference is the story you have given it. And the story you’ve given it always determines its outcome.

Learn to hold the highest story of yourself. Don’t allow yourself to be limited by your shortlist of shortcomings. Your glass is always half full, and if it’s not, rewrite the story until it is. How you see things is HOW THEY WILL SHOW UP FOR YOU. The stories we tell ourselves inevitably become our reality whether we want them to or not.

Nobody wants to hear the same story over and over again, especially if it’s a story of victimhood. You are only limited by the story you tell yourself. So, if your story is holding you back from greatness, rewrite it until it brings you the greatness you deserve.

a healthy ego… and NOTHING to prove.

So if you have something to prove, you may want to check-in with your ego.

Healthy egos create healthy humans. But in our fast paced society of competition and status, sometimes our egos default to the power outside of us rather than highlighting the power within us.  Our egos can become misguided and singularly focused on some notion of external power. But real power has nothing to prove. It just is. If your ego is healthy, you have NO NEED to wield your power over others, you are happy to use that power in support of others’ development. But when your ego is unhealthy, it needs to use it’s power outside of itself to control and manipulate everyone around you in order to feel safe and/or important, valued and validated.

How healthy is your ego? Where is your power center? Inside or outside? When you learn that a healthy ego is inwardly directed, you realize that you have it all within yourself. If people do not see how fabulous you are, it isn’t your job to prove it to them. It is only your job to prove it to yourself. So always put that external energy back into yourself and in time, everyone will see that you are “the REAL DEAL,” not only because you have everything to offer, but because you truly have absolutely no need to prove it to anyone. A healthy ego validates itself; it never needs validation from outside.

th-3… is in their ability to be humble.

Real power is in the mark of someone who doesn’t need to hide behind an over-inflated ego. It is the mark of someone who has achieved everything and yet has nothing to prove. It is the mark of someone who is truly comfortable in their skin and truly comfortable in their ability to be REAL, not living behind a shield of pretense. It is the mark of someone who truly knows who they are and can stand firm in the face of adversity. It is in the mark of someone who doesn’t need, nor seek validation from others.

In other words, truly powerful people know where real power resides and they know that it is NEVER outside of them. They know that power is NOT to be found in fame or fortune. It is NOT to be found in the car they drive or in the number of beach homes they have. It is NOT to be found in the amount of money they make or in their social status. It is NOT to be found in the brands they wear, nor the people they hang around with.

Truly powerful people know that their power comes from within. They have an innate ability to see themselves. They are able to admit their faults. They are able to accept responsibility for their actions especially when they are less than desirable. They are able to constructively hear criticism and subsequently apply the learning. They are able to share their more difficult life experiences with others in hopes to promote their growth without worrying about how they might appear. And even more importantly, they do not need accolades because they know that the best reputations are created without even trying.

Truly powerful people have nothing to prove and yet everything to share with the world. They are modest, and are more interested in helping others for the sake of truly making a difference NOT for what it says about them.

The secret to truly powerful people lies in the ability to practice humility and vulnerability. These beings realize that it is never about physical strength or mental strength – it is always about emotional strength. There is a strength in admitting your limitations that can never be found in the professing of your achievements.

Do you want to be a truly powerful person? Do you want to be recognized in your field? Do you want to influence others and help to inspire them? Do you want to make a difference in the world? Stop trying to DO all that and start BEING REAL within yourself. Your ability to be truly powerful lies within YOU never outside of you.

grateful… brings you MORE of what you WANT.

Believe it or not.

It’s very simple, you do not get more of what you want until you can fully appreciate the beauty that you currently hold. There is great richness in every one of our lives but it gets clouded over when there is something out of reach that we long for.

The act of “wanting” creates a strong position of lack in our lives. The act of “gratitude” creates a strong position of abundance.

When we feel incomplete without a certain person or material object, we are telling the universe that we are NOT WHOLE – that we are somehow less than we would like to be. The universe acknowledges that inadequacy and mirrors back to you more situations that will support your current state of lack.

But when you can express gratitude for what you currently have (especially if it doesn’t seem like much), the universe will read that as abundance and will continue to fill you up with more than you could ever ask for.

To be grateful for whatever it is that you have is to tell the universe that you DESERVE the abundance given to you and that you are worthy of more beauty – hence it will always make its way to you.

You will NEVER get what it is you want if you feel as if you don’t already have it. So fill yourself up with what you do have.

A lush summer garden in bloom will always attract more attention and support then will a barren desert plot of the same size. Are you a garden in bloom or are you a barren desert? Your hope of growing roses only exists if you create that garden. The choice is always yours.
