th-5… for change.

Let it drive your transformation.

In other words – if it hurts you, it will change you. And that’s a good thing.

We all run from pain, no one likes to feel it. Everyone labels it as “bad.” But the reality is that it’s only through your pain that you are able to truly transform yourself because YOU HAVE TO. You can no longer go on experiencing the pain nor do you want to go back to the source that caused it. Therefore the only way through your pain is literally through it and out the other end. And that is where change lies.

When you let yourself truly feel the pain, you innately know which direction to go in, in order to heal. Just like a child touching a hot stove, it is only through the pain of a burned finger that he learns never to do that again, never to engage in similar behavior again.

If you never allow yourself to feel the pain, how can you transform the behavior? You can’t. If you ignore the pain and push it down, where’s the learning? There isn’t any. Where there is no pain, there can be no transformation and where there is no transformation, there can never be growth and with no growth, there can be no happiness. It’s a simple as that.

You always have a choice. But the highest choice is to allow yourself to feel the pain, hit rock bottom with it and let it transform you from a stubborn caterpillar into that beautiful butterfly. And as we all know, the view from above is always much more liberating.

th-2… is the ONLY WAY to learn.

If it were easy, there wouldn’t be anything to learn. It would only be to enjoy.

Pain is our greatest teacher and our greatest fuel for change.

Anything worth having in life is worth the fight. Anything you can walk away from isn’t worth your time.

Struggles make us better. When there is an investment in energy and awareness, you grow. No pain, no gain. The difficult times slow us down, make us more conscious of our behavior and force us to seek out new alternatives that we may have never experienced.

In short, learning the hard way opens you up to deeper experiences that enrich the soul and challenge the mind. Learning the hard way teaches you deeper strategic tools for your growth and development. Learning the hard way gives you character. Learning the hard way makes you resourceful and better able to anticipate changes.

Learning the hard way is the only way to learn. Otherwise you are just being handed the answers. Learn to find those answers yourself and learn to uncover them through your darkest night. Once you learn things the hard way, you learn that you can do anything.

th-1… you can see the stars.

They are always there.

They are those bright spots in your life that will guide you onwards on your path… if you can see them.

The stars are always there, but do we ever see them? We are used to focusing on the darkness in our lives but we do not realize that with all darkness is the potential to see the brightest stars. The stars are only visible through that darkness. We live in a world of opposites – you have to be in the darkness to be able to see the light of the stars. But we always stop and get stuck in the darkness.

When the darkness of your life descends upon you, time to open your eyes and see the stars that are all around you. Those stars are the people and situations that have the innate ability to help you shine. They are always there if you can just learn to adjust your eyes.

You will always see what you want to see. Do you want to see the darkness or do you want to see the opportunities for light? Learn what your stars are and learn how to find them in the darkness. They are always there to guide you and lead you through your darkest night. Your ability to re-adjust your eyes to see that light will help you to transform the fear of the darkness into the optimism of that shining star.

Life is too short to hide from the darkness. Open your eyes and allow those stars to guide you on your path. You are never alone. When you are in the darkness, trust that those stars will guide you on your way. Their light will never dim.

th-1… pick it up.

What choice do you have?

Life specifically brings us challenges to test our strength – to test our resolve – to test our ability to demand better for ourselves.

When your world comes crashing down, it is a sign for you to ask yourself if you are ok with those changes? If you are not, it is your work to pick yourself up and put your world back together again. No one will do it for you.

It is also important to remember that when your world comes crashing down, it is a sign that some of your infrastructure was not sturdy enough to hold you. There was a crack in it. You are growing and changing and your infrastructure needs to be able to grow and change with you in order to support you on your journey. Highlight that broken infrastructure and replace it with a new structure that can better meet your needs. Recognize that life changes and directions need to change as well.

You don’t get what you want in life just because you want it or just because you think you deserve it, you get it because you work hard for it. And you make the right choices for it. Nothing good ever comes easy and nothing easy is ever really worth having. So when your world comes crashing down, don’t expect it to be easy to rebuild, but know that it will rebuild even better than before.

Don’t give up on yourself. Fix the crack in your infrastructure and allow yourself to grow into the beautiful being you are here to become. What other choice do you have?

images… it doesn’t change you.

Challenges make you stronger.

Life is hard. It just is. It was never meant to be easy.

We do not learn by living an easy life. We only learn by living through challenging experiences. Those challenging experiences make you a better person. If you can rise to the challenge and transform the pain or fear, it brings you to a far better place.

We have all heard that challenges make you stronger but how exactly? They make you wiser, more alert, more strategic, more willing to take risks, more self-assured, more patient, more confident in your own abilities, more optimistic, more empowered (less of a victim) and more mindful in your approach to life.

You are NEVER a victim. Challenges don’t happen to you to punish you or keep you back in life. They happen to test your resolve and see how strong and conscious you have become on your path. Every time you overcome a perceived challenge, you earn another level of conscious evolution. And on the flip side, every time you allow yourself to fall down and feel sorry for yourself, you take a step back.

Life is always about moving forward and doing whatever you need to do to keep moving forward. Challenges are not roadblocks, they are opportunities to test ourselves to see if we are still growing in the direction we want to be moving or if we have decided to stop growing all together. Victims stop living. Masters create lifetimes of great richness and beauty. The mind is the only difference between the two.

Take control of your life and change your perception the next time you hit a challenge. Don’t let a closed door be an obstacle. Learn to find the key and open the door yourself so you can keep moving forward and create the life you truly deserve.

… so make sure what you are giving is exactly what you want to be receiving!

Seems simple enough, right? But we forget this simple precept all the time. We are our own worst enemies. We are the ones who complicate our own lives. We do this by unconsciously putting out behavior to the world that does not serve us.

When you are connected to the universal flow, things just work – you catch that subway when you are running late, you get just the right job lead when you need it – you are always in the right place at the right time. On the contrary, when you are in a cycle of “Murphy’s Law” and feel as if you are hitting your head against a wall and getting stuck at every corner, you are NOT in the universal flow. Life is meant to flow with ease, when it doesn’t, it is time to look at what it is you are putting out that might be deterring you from a life of ease and good fortune.

Life shows up for us as a direct response to our actions. If we are putting out short-tempered behavior latent with anger, hate, envy, bitterness or hurtful sarcasm, then that negative energy creates instant roadblocks for us and puts up walls that create many obstacles on our path. In other words, that curt comment you shouted at the store clerk will go further to undermine your performance at the job interview later that morning then anything else. Everything is connected. And when you are not connected, you are the one who loses.

You get what you give. The energy you expend will always come back to you tenfold – both positive and negative. If you find yourself constantly hitting roadblocks, it is time to slow down, take a step back, take a breath and consciously shift your energy to a higher thought or vibration – one that encourages a positive outcome both for yourself and for the world around you. Life is too short to be hitting your head on the wall over and over again. Recognize that there is always a better way of showing up.

… of infinite possibilities, unexpected twists and turns and many dead-ends.

Believe it or not, you have already set up your own maze before you were born. You have detailed out every challenge, every life lesson and every soul you are going to encounter along the way. Your maze is completely unique onto you. But we forget that our maze is “of our own design” and we get caught up in our own drama of hitting that dead-end after a 5-year straight-away leads you to “nowhere meaningful.” It is all meaningful. Every twist and turn and every roadblock is there for a reason – to teach you something about yourself. It doesn’t matter that you actually hit a roadblock, what matters is how you deal with that roadblock. Do you just sit out on the floor and play the victim or do you get yourself back up, dust yourself off and pick a new direction with optimism, not regret and resentment?

It is always easier to view the maze from above. Then one can know how truly simple it is to navigate. But life isn’t about getting all the answers handed to you. You have to find them for yourself. If you were handed all the answers, why would you bother being born? If there was no mystery, then we would never learn and have the extraordinary experiences of exploration and accomplishment that we have. Earth is our schoolroom and it is important that we learn to walk our maze with confidence that we will always find our own way to the finish gate when the time is right.

In theory, you cannot make a wrong turn. All paths lead you down a lesson in life – an experience (good or bad). They are all worth having. The secret to success in navigating the maze is not to focus on finding the exit, it is to focus on enjoying the scenery and learning to laugh at yourself once you hit yet another ridiculous roadblock that you should have seen coming.

You will get to the exit soon enough. In the interim, don’t get caught up in the “wrong turns.” Don’t give up. Learn to take a breath, choose another direction and just keep walking…. Just keep walking.
