images… helps you to move forward into your future.

We are always meant to move forward in our lives and not spend time looking backwards. But many of us get stuck looking back at the past. We relive it over and over again keeping ourselves in a viscous cycle of stagnancy.

The only way to move forward in your life is to acknowledge your past – get the lesson from it – and get out of it. By continuing to look back and play the blame game, we never grow into the beings we were meant to. We keep ourselves back.

Your past is your past for a reason. It has set the foundation for you to become who you are today. But if you are unwilling to acknowledge the challenges that were set up for you to specifically overcome, you might instead see yourself as the victim – and victims tend to look back at their past with regret, anger and resentment.

You are NEVER a victim of your life. No matter what you tell yourself, your past is your past for a reason. Your circumstances (no matter how dire they may be) are your catalyst for growth. The degree to which you will evolve in this life is contingent on the degree to which you allow yourself to learn from your past and subsequently make changes so that your future is brighter.

Looking backwards will only keep you stuck in a cycle of pain, remorse, anger and resentment. Your work is to find meaning in your past and shut it down – once and for all. Once you have found the meaning (the lesson), your future will always be brighter. The universe rewards those who move forward in their lives. Those who look back will continue to live the painful past they are focusing on. After all, you can’t start the next chapter of your life if you are still re-reading the last one.

… you have NO choice but to change direction.

Where else can you go?

Walls are put in place for a reason – to STOP you dead in your tracks and they serve their purpose.

Think of life as a maze – you are going along smoothly and all of a sudden you hit a wall. Fine. No drama. You are stopped and you pick a new direction. The wall was your indication that you can no longer move in that direction.

It is the same thing in life – when you hit a wall, it is your indication that you are being blocked from progressing further. It is time for you to now make another decision to proceed along a new direction and chart a new course. No drama needed, only change is required.

Hitting a wall is not a problem. Deciding to IGNORE the wall and NOT turn towards a new direction is really the problem. If the wall is there, the universe is telling you to explore other options. Of course you can use your free will and climb over the wall, but there may just be a better way to move forward in your life. Why make things difficult? If you come up against a wall. Stop and yield to it. It might be trying to tell you something. Turn towards a new direction and you may just find that it brings you to a much better place.

long and winding road2… is a much more enriching journey.

We never want to take it though. Why is that? If given the chance, we will more often than not choose the motorway and bypass all the beautiful exits along the way to our destination. For some reason we are obsessed with where we need to go in life and we forget that it’s not actually about the destination at all, but about the journey to get there.

The pressure we put on ourselves to achieve our goals and “be someone specific” or “be somewhere specific within a certain timeframe” doesn’t allow us to enjoy the process of life that is happening in this very moment. There is no reason to jump the motorway and completely miss your life. Your life is happening right now amidst all the twists and hairpin turns. It’s that long and winding road with all its bumps and unforseen curves that helps mold us into the beings we are today. If we bypassed that road and took the motorway, we would miss out on all the beautiful scenery and experiences we might have had. We would just be another cookie-cutter person living a boring existence because we preferred to skip ahead and “save time” to get to our destination.

Your life is rich with your experiences and those long and winding roads make you who you are today. Every bend and straightaway colors you and gives you your unique character. Long and winding roads are meant to be savored, not rushed through. You want to enjoy the journey of your life because it is in essence a journey into learning about the self.

Any time you are ready to learn about yourself, take that detour and allow life’s experiences to open the RIGHT doors for you.  There are no quick answers in life, just because you know how to get ahead faster on the motorway doesn’t guarantee that you are going in the right direction. Take time to enjoy your life, take the long and winding road and experience the journey into yourself. You might find that there is no need to get all the way to the end. You might choose to stay somewhere along the way. If you slow down, you will have the opportunity to feel what is right for you and not have it artificially decided for you. Life is always about the journey NEVER the destination, so let your journey unfold.
