… it’s a place you cultivate within yourself.

The mistake humanity makes is in thinking that happiness can ever be found outside you. The material world is fleeting. $$$, jobs, homes, cars, bonuses, reputations all have an expiration date. You can’t take them with you when your time is up. They are not a measure of your true success so they can never truly create lasting happiness.

Happiness is a state of mind. It’s a divine connection to source — something greater that created this universe. It’s in the trust that your soul is your greatest economy — that who you are is much greater than who this sick society tells you that you are.

When the world tries to tear you down and tell you that you’re a failure, can you stand up and say, I love who i am and I love the life i’ve created for myself? True happiness is an inside job. Those who do not love themselves will never be able to find it. If you’re still only seeking happiness in the material world, you’ll forever be lost in the seas of depression.

… is the one who keeps coming back.

No one wants to deal with wolves, yet we all continually feeds these vicious, merciless beasts until they overtake us.

The wolves are your emotions — good wolves and bad wolves. Wolves are energetic constructs (emotional states) and they require our thoughts as food to fuel them. Our good wolves are the positive emotions of inspiration, passion, purpose, love and joy, etc.. The bad wolves are the anxiety, fear, anger, depression, and worry, etc..

It’s much easier to feed the bad wolves and think you are keeping yourself safe and away from harm. But it doesn’t work that way. The wolf you feed is the one who keeps coming back for more. If you continually feed negative emotions, those emotions will get bigger and bigger until they swallow you whole.

If you simply stop feeding negative emotions, they have to go somewhere else for fuel.  If you take your energy off the negative emotions, you lessen the chances of getting eaten by the very wolves you were feeding.

It’s the law of attraction — you get what you think about whether you want it or not. The wolf you feed is the one who comes back for more. Ask yourself if you want that wolf in your life? If the answer is no, stop feeding him. When you take your thoughts off the things that upset you, you starve them and marginalize their influence over your life. Hungry wolves don’t hang around very long. When they realize there is no more food, they leave and most likely never come back.

… it’s always taking you somewhere else.

Life is an uphill climb and it’s made up of many steps. There is no single step that is ever going to be forever. So why allow yourself to get tripped up over the step you’re on?

You’re never meant to get stuck on a step and you’re never meant to skip steps. Life moves in phases and when you’re finished with one step, it’s time to take the next one. But many of us get disheartened because we are unhappy with the step we’re on. It’s ok to dislike the step you’re on, you’re not meant to be on it forever — just keep climbing — you’re always on your way somewhere else and that step is a necessary evil in getting you there.

… is the best way to find yourself.

When you’re surrounded by others, it’s too easy to get lost in the crowd.

It’s so easy for us to get caught up in social and community groups that can give us a sense of purpose and belonging. But that can be a false sense of identity. True knowledge of self is only found within the confines of one’s own heart and one’s own being. It’s much easier to hide behind the cache of a group, then it is to stand apart from the crowd and be yourself.

You don’t have to have all the answers in life, you have only to stand up within yourself and be open to exploring the unknown.

When you get still within yourself, answers always come. The feeling of being lost is a gift that opens you up to true vulnerability and within that vulnerability, you can dive deep into the vastness of your own being.

No one wants to feel lost, but if you allow yourself to go deep into the loneliness, you might just find who and what you were searching for all along. The answers you seek are never outside, but always lie within you.

… but if you’re patient, it’ll work out even better.

Patience is the name of the game. Life is a delicate balance of effort and surrender and when we push against what isn’t working, we only create more resistance for ourselves.

The ability to observe what is and not get caught up into wanting it to be different is the gift of wisdom. We may not be able to change what is happening to us in this moment, but we can absolutely change our reactions to what is happening and that reaction is what will create our next experience.

Life is a series of moments. What happens when things don’t work out the way you want them to? Do you spend your time and energy rallying around the injustice of it all or do you put your energy into moving forward so you can create a better experience in your next moment?

Life doesn’t always work out the way you want it to but if you accept that “it is the way it is,” you give yourself the ability to create change in the next moment. You are never going to change what happened, but if you surrender to it, accept it and recognize that you prefer to have a better experience next time, you will be on your way to creating it for yourself.

… requires a mid-course correction.

A mid-life crisis can happen at any age, but the wisdom here is that the secret to healing it, is in the way we define it.

Life naturally has its ups and downs, and life is constantly asking you to define who you are in relationship to it. You’re never in a crisis, you’re only ever at a crossroads. You’re always being given a chance to PIVOT yourself away from what is not working and towards something that will.

Don’t fall into the drama of the crisis. Recognize that it reflects a crossroads for you. You get to evaluate your position and choose your next step. You are never stuck and you are never a victim of your circumstances. If you are unhappy where you are, make a move. Recognize that you’re always in control of your life; your life is NEVER in control of you.

You’re not having a midlife crisis, you just need to make a midcourse correction. Crossroads are always there to give you the opportunity to trade up. Are you ready for something new? The universe is waiting to give it to you.

… your life KEEPS YOU unhappy.

It’s a vicious cycle.

Nothing and no one will bring you joy because your happiness can NEVER be found OUTSIDE OF YOU.

Happiness is an inside job but as humans, we project our need for happiness outside of us. We sit and wait for something to make us happy…

If I could just get that new job, I’ll be happy.

If I could just get that promotion, I’d be happy.

If I could just get the raise, I’d be happy.

If I could just close the deal, I’d be happy.

And so on…

But here’s the irony… no lasting happiness can be found outside of you — it’s fleeting. Once you get something you want, there will undoubtedly be something else that you’ll want in order to be happy. You’ll always want more therefore you’ll always end up chasing happiness.

Start learning to change the way you are looking at things — when you learn to find the best in ANY situation, you’ll find the happiness it has for you. Every moment of your life offers you a small gift of happiness if you are conscious enough to see it.

But our tendency is to only look at things at face value — is it good or baddoes it makes me happy or sad? But life isn’t black or white — happiness exists in the shades of grey. And those shades are waiting to be defined each and every day by YOU.

When you are unhappy with your life, your life keeps you unhappy — it will continue to bring you situations that match your unhappy vibration. Happiness is an inside job — find any reason to be happy and let it raise your vibration. Like attracts like. When you learn to find ANY reason to be happy, the universe will bring you EVERY reason to be happy.

…. it’s something you CREATE for yourself.

We’re so conditioned to expect something OUTSIDE of us to make us happy, but WAITING for something to make you happy will NEVER MAKE YOU HAPPY because happiness isn’t something you get, it’s something you create for yourself. It’s A STATE OF MIND which you, yourself, cultivate and once internally cultivated, it has the power to transform you.

You always have a choice as to the emotion you are experiencing. EMOTIONS ARE BORN OUT OF YOUR THOUGHTS. If you’re focusing on thoughts that support despair or negativity, you’re fostering unhappiness. But if you focus on thoughts that inspire you, YOU’LL NATURALLY CREATE A STATE OF HAPPINESS WITHIN. In other words, you’ll soon feel better because you’ve influenced your mind to do so.

Your thoughts dictate whether or not you’ll experience happiness. If you’re thinking a thought that is NOT making you happy, CHANGE IT until it does. And if it’s impossible to alter that thought, then shut it down and replace it with a thought that feels better to you. By creating a happier state of mind, the world relates to you differently — remember when you’re happy, the world smiles with you and when you’re sad, you cry alone.

Happiness is your birthright. But you have to first learn to cultivate it from within. If you’re still waiting for external events outside of you to make you happy, you’ll be waiting an eternity. Don’t give your power over to any person or situation for your happiness. Take control of your thoughts and shift your emotions. When you learn to find ANY reason to be happy — you’ll have EVERY reason to be happy.

… is that it’s always changing.

If you’re unhappy with where you are, stick around — it’ll flip soon enough.

Nothing ever stays the same for very long and that’s a good thing. Change is inherent in our universe. What goes up, must come down.

Just like the coin has 2 sides, heads and tails, life has it’s ups and downs. Neither experience is better or worse, they’re just different and provide different learning. And ultimatelyboth sides need to be experienced equally.

Don’t get caught up bemoaning the tails. It’s a waste of your energy. It only keeps you attracting more tails in your life. Remember that for every tail experienced, you get “a-head”, literally.

There’s no good or bad in life, there are only different sides of the coin. Tails are the more challenging experiences that bring you amazing growth. Heads are the rewards for having gotten there. One naturally feels better, the other makes you better. But neither is better than the other.

You want both sides of the coin. They enrich you — they expand you — they push you to your limits — then reward you for your efforts. The flip side of life is that things are always changing and the coin is always flipping. Don’t get caught out lamenting the tails, without them, there would be no heads.

… you’re NOT ready to leave it.

Obviously there’s something there for you that has yet to be uncovered.

If you’re trying to move forward, but can’t, it’s important to recognize that you’re being held back for a reason. There’s something in the place where you currently stand that requires your attention — there’s a learning there for you — there’s a lesson there that needs to be integrated before you can move onto the next stage.

The process of being held back is quite purposeful because your path builds onto itself and each stage of life entails prerequisite learning. Therefore, if you haven’t internalized a lesson at a given stage, you’ll be prevented from moving onto the next stage.

What are you not seeing? What are you not looking at? It’s usually something that you’ve shoved away in a closet with resolve never to open. Rest assured that your life will not let you move forward until you open it and do the work on moving past it.

If you’re stuck in the same place, you’re not ready to leave it. You may WANT to leave it, but you lack the learning necessary to move forward. The universe will always protect you from moving onto a stage until you have the tools to deal with it. Don’t spend your time being frustrated, spend it cleaning out your closets. Skeletons don’t go away, they’ll only haunt you until you pull them out of your closet — then they are just a pile of bones.
