… this moment has every answer you will ever need.

As humans, most of us get caught up in the “mousewheel of life.” We go on auto-pilot and end up in an endless wheel of routine where we don’t even feel life anymore. We rush and rush and rush to end up in yet the same place. And what’s it all for? Why all the rushing? Where are we trying to get to?

It’s about security and safety. We are always trying to get answers to our future and where we’re headed. But the future doesn’t have your answers, the answers are in this present moment. It’s just that most humans are never conscious in the present moment and so they miss all the subtle signs and synchronicities that would direct them to the optimal next step. When you’re sleep walking your way through your life and chasing a future moment, you miss all the richness and gifts that are waiting for you in this present moment.

Time is speeding up these days and when you’re not present in this moment, but chasing a future moment, you will never get caught up with yourself. The future can’t help you because you’re not there yet. But if you slow down and pay attention to your life in this moment, you will hear what it has to tell you. The secrets to your future are right in front of you. When you are fully present to the magic in this moment, you will be delivered to a future moment that is truly magical.

… you walk into walls.

It’s common sense.

When you’re not looking where you’re going, you’re most likely going to end up somewhere you don’t want to be.

Most of us sleepwalk our way through our lives — running the mouse wheel of life. We are so busy trying to make a living that we completely miss the significance of our lives. We miss the small moments that are on our path to teach us.

Believe it or not, you are only here to learn, NOT to amass large amounts of material goods, real estate, money or collegiate accreditation. Your focus should always be on your relationships and your challenges — these are your mirrors that force your growth. They make you better, wiser and stronger. They change you. They bring you to a better place. In other words, your struggles are your guidepost to greatness; don’t ignore them.

Pay attention to your life, it’s trying to tell you something. If you don’t keep your head up, you’ll undoubtedly end up somewhere you don’t want to be. Life’s too short to keep your head down; there’s a world in front of you — keep your eye on it, it might just change you.

… brings you to the next.

Projecting into a future moment — leaves you stranded.

Being in the present moment is the roadmap to our lives. Living in a future moment sends us careening off-course.

Life isn’t about the future destination of where you’re headed, it’s about the present moment journey into yourself. And every great journey is born out of one step, because one step brings you to the next one, which brings you to the next one, and so on.

Being in the moment secures you on your path. When you are open to the wisdom of the moment, you are infinitely guided to the next step along your journey because you are moving along a path you are standing on. But when you’re living ahead of the moment and projecting yourself into a future moment (which doesn’t yet exist), you are throwing yourself off your path into the bushes and blind guessing where it might lead.

The future doesn’t have your answers. The moment has every answer you will ever need.

Don’t ask your future where you’re headed. The roadmap to your life is secured in this moment. The future moment may never come. If you base your destination on a future moment, you will have missed the richness of all the moments along the way.

Being in this moment brings you to the next. Never make a decision in the future based on a probable outcome which may never come. The only moment you have is in the NOW. When you make your decisions based on this moment, you’re on your path. When you make decisions based on a future moment, you are off in the bushes. Where do you want to be?

2884846… takes away your freedom in the moment.

And that is everything.

The best laid plan has to be able to change. Because YOU are always changing.

Don’t hold so tightly to your goals and plans, be flexible with them because things change, people change and new opportunities present themselves every day.

You never want to lock yourself into a future plan because your growth is continual. Make a plan and allow it to be flexible. Choose your highway and select an exit, but then keep your eyes open and take in all the scenery around you. You may decide you want to take a different exit and explore a new town. You may surprise yourself. Life is full of exits and the best of us explore as many as we can before we declare a final destination.

Trying to control your future takes away your freedom in the moment – the freedom to decide to change your mind and take a new exit. Learn to let go and listen to the wisdom of the moment. Plans are meant to be changed. New exits are always meant to be taken. Don’t try and control your future. Pay attention to the moment, it will tell you everything you need to know about your future.

th-3… is always MORE OVERWHELMING than the actual tasks at hand.

Nothing is ever as challenging as we think it’s going to be.

Whether we have too much on our plates, or are feeling in-over-our-heads with a project(s), we inadvertently tend to build up anxiety over getting it all done/achieving it on time, etc… We naturally default to feeling overwhelmed, but the overall feelings of “being overwhelmed” are much more overwhelming than if we were to just sit down and work out the logistics of doing the project and/or setting the schedule. Once you shed the light of consciousness on your anxieties, you can see that it is never as bad as you think it will be.

Instead of worrying about how to tackle a project and pushing it off for weeks feeling overwhelmed, sit down and start it. You will soon see that it is not as bad as you thought. Nothing is as difficult as are the feelings of overwhelm. Things are never as difficult as we think they will be. But we spend countless amounts of energy fretting over it and that is the energy that we could be channeling into something more constructive.

Take back your power. Don’t give it away to worry about something that needs to get done. Live one moment at a time and by the time you get up to doing what you have been feeling overwhelmed with, you realize it isn’t so bad after all and much easier than you thought.

th-1… and consciousness is your map.

Do you want to succeed through life? Pay attention.

Don’t sleep walk your way through the maze. Every twist and turn has something for you. Every person you meet, every situation you encounter is quite purposefully planted in your path for your growth.

Open your eyes and get to know the terrain. Notice when you have gone down the same corridor and make another choice – don’t get looped into the same trap over and over again. If it looks familiar to you, chances are you’ve been down that path before.

Open your eyes and practice conscious awareness of the path you are on. You are always in charge of the path you take, but if you are not awake and conscious of the choices you are making, the maze will run you in circles.

Pick your head up. Stop running into dead ends. Be more strategic about your life. Learn when certain corridors lead you down darker paths and learn to look for the light.

But at the same time, don’t be afraid to explore and make mistakes. You might think that you know the direction that your path is taking you, but you may not. It may lead you towards a different outcome completely and believe it or not, that outcome would be for your highest good.

Practice consciousness towards your life. Pay attention to what is going on along your path – what are others saying to you and how others are treating you? The seeds of your life lessons are happening every day if you are conscious enough to watch them play out and learn the rules of the engagement. After all, it is the game of your life, and it is a maze which can be successfully navigated by waking up.

Your life is too short to run yourself around in circles. Do you want to be in a better place in your life? Wake up and find the nature of the path you have been following and if you realize that it hasn’t been serving you, it’s time to take another path.

Repeating Cycles… doesn’t help create new ones.

We are creatures of habit by nature. We find comfort in the repetition of our lives. But repetition doesn’t invite growth. Change does. After all, repetition means “you have already been there or done that.”

When we repeat situations and lessons in our lives, it’s because we have NOT yet gotten it. The message should be loud and clear – you are not seeing something that is right in front of you. You are unable to discern what is really going on – usually because you are too close to the situation to see it objectively. When that happens and you see yourself repeating situations over and over and over again, it is time to take a step back from the situation to gain some clarity.

When we lose objectivity, we lose our ability to see ourselves clearly. When you can no longer see what is right in front of you, take a time out. Do something different – take a trip, go on a retreat, shake it up. Break the pattern of unconsciousness so that you can gain some semblance of consciousness. Once you can do that, everything changes. Shake yourself out of the complacency of repeating your unconscious cycles and give yourself a chance to move forward in your life. Happiness awaits when you gain the clarity to see that it will no longer will be found in the repetition of a cycle, but in the experience of a new one.

sadness_149… brings you to where you do.

We can’t all be exactly where we want to be when we want to be there. Life is a process. Suffice to say that the way to get to where you want in life is to live exactly where you are in the moment. One step in front of the other brings you to your destination. It can be no other way.

But in life, we seek instant gratification. We prefer to skip steps in the process of our lives because we feel that the destination is more important. The destination is never more important than is the journey to self-awareness.

Being where you don’t want to be in life is a critical part of the process of getting to where you DO want to be. Learning the lesson in that moment is the key to unlocking the next phase of your life. If you spend your time crying and lamenting where you are, you haven’t learned those lessons. If you empower yourself to keep walking and learn from where you are, the doors to your future open almost instantaneously.

You can get to wherever you want in life from right where you are. In fact, it is spiritual law. There is no other way of getting there. It is all about doing the work. Recognize that you are where you are in your life for a reason and when you learn certain lessons, you will be free to move onto the next phase. There is NO punishment, there is NO being kept back and there is NO reward being witheld from you. Your ability to move forward in your life is directly contingent on your ability to be where you are and fully experience and internalize the lessons of that moment with ease, grace and gratitude. There is no rush, you will get it when you truly get it.

…your life depends on it.

Often times we wish that our lives were more peaceful and more easeful. We fall into the trap of material madness and over-booked schedules. Everyday we are constantly running and running on that never ending mouse wheel – working so hard to have a life yet we have forgotten how to actually live it. What we don’t realize is that the faster you run on the mouse wheel, the FASTER you will have to run to keep up with the pace you have created for yourself. Herein the cycle of insanity begins.

Life is a continuous projection of our thoughts, words and actions. We are the ones who set the pace. If you want to live a hectic and frenzied life, all you need to do is buy into the constant fluctuations of the mind and allow them to lead you all over the place. In other words, we are ruled by our “to-do lists” and as a result, we lead very stressed out lives ushered around by our “monkey minds”. We are so busy trying to make a living that we have completely forgotten how to LIVE (and enjoy) our lives. What is the point of living life like that? We are here for such a finite period of time and if your life cannot be fully enjoyed, then it is not worth living.

If you want the pace of your life to slow down, learn to cultivate a slower pace. That does NOT mean that you do not do everything you want to do, it only means that you learn to breath more stillness into every moment and rush less. Be in the present moment and notice how time expands for you. You will cultivate a new degree of peace and relaxation into every moment.

Your life show up exactly how you anticipate it. You have the choice every day to see your life as “full, yet enjoyable” or to see it as “stressful and chaotic.” When you change your mind’s perception, the situations will change for you and you will find that new degree of peace.

Always remember that you are the one in control. There is nothing outside of you that will ever calm you down and center you. The answers are always within and the answers have to do with how you see life. If you are unhappy with the pace of your life, slow down the wheel, remember YOU are the only one running it.
