th-2… doesn’t make it right for you.

Or even make it better for that matter.

It just makes you tired of holding it.

Sometimes we think that if we hold on tighter to what is NOT working, it will all of a sudden become more of what we want. But it doesn’t work that way.

The longer you hold onto what is NOT working, the harder it gets to disassociate from it. And the longer you hold onto what is NOT working, the harder it gets to open up to something healthier and more fulfilling.

Obstacles are clear indicators that it might be time to let go of what you are holding onto. If it is getting harder and harder to hold onto what you are clutching in your fists, it might be time to relinquish your control over it. Holding onto it longer doesn’t make it better for you or even make it right, it just exhausts you and takes energy away from your ability find something much better.

It’s exhausting to hold on to something longer than you should. When you feel depleted and realize that what you are holding onto is not changing, offer it up to the universe to transform it appropriately. After all, if it is not working for you, there is always a reason why and perhaps a reason why you are unwilling to see it.

So, if you are holding on longer than you should, be brave and let it go. Give your knuckles a rest and open up your palms to receive something healthier and happier. It’s ALWAYS there for you whenever you are ready to release your grip. The rest of your life is waiting for you to let go of what isn’t working. Haven’t you carried it long enough?

th-7… or you’ll NEVER get it.

Speak up or you’ll NEVER be heard.

And ironically if you don’t, you’ll have no one to blame but yourself.

Things do not magically change because you want them to change. They change when you do something about it. The name of the game is communication – simple, direct and honest.

In life, YOU DO NOT GET WHAT YOU DO NOT ASK FOR. So start asking. It isn’t anyone else’s responsibility to give you what you need, it is your responsibility to honor yourself and ask for it. People cannot help you if you do not first help yourself by articulating your unhappiness and being clear about what it is you really need.

But our biggest problem is that we stay stuck in situations that no longer serve us and relationships that no longer nurture our growth. And we wonder why we are left unhappy and depressed? By living your life in a state of inertia, nothing can ever change until an act of will propels the situation forward.

Don’t waste your time blaming others for your unhappiness. If you can’t articulate yourself clearly then you will NEVER get your needs met and you can NEVER blame anyone else for it.

If something in your life needs to change, speak up or forever hold your peace. And don’t think you are doing others a favor by staying quiet, you are hurting everyone by keeping the peace. Your life and believe it or not, the lives of others, only improves when you decide to do something about your situation. How do you want to live you life?

sleepwalking… will always leave you in a place you do NOT want to be.

How could it leave you anywhere else?

No one consciously sets out to sleepwalk. It is an unconscious programming – an unconscious walk throughout your life. If you are NOT consciously looking at your behavior and how you are showing up in life, then you are sleepwalking your way through it and most likely will wake up in a place you didn’t mean to be in.

Why is that the case? Because sleepwalking is unconscious. And only conscious behavior can bring you to where you want to be in your life. Sleepwalking only purports negative programming as it encourages repetitive deconstructive cycles – as in nighttime eating and dangerous walking, etc. Sleepwalking doesn’t get you ahead. It keeps you stuck in negative cycles.

If you are not looking at your behavioral patterns and questioning how it is you got to where you are in your life, then you are NOT doing the work of conscious walking. You are most likely reacting unconsciously to what is going on for you and subsequently sleepwalking your way through it.

You can keep blaming everyone else for the bad that happens in your life or you can wake up today from your debilitating slumber and realize that you have brought it all on yourself and decide that you want to change it. People who sleepwalk blame others for waking up naked outside. People who are awake acknowledge that they have some issues that are causing them to want to take off their clothes and run naked through the streets in their sleep and as a result, they begin to do the work on healing those issues so they can break the pattern.

Wake up, your life is too short to sleepwalk it away. Get back into the driver’s seat of your life and vow to identify your patterns and make the decision to address your issues more consciously. Personal transformation starts with the recognition that you want to WAKE UP TO YOUR LIFE. It is happening right here, right now and the sooner you can wake up and recognize that the decisions you may have made thus far are not serving you, the sooner you can make decisions that will better serve you.

Are you ready to wake up and own your life or are you still sleepwalking? Any time you are ready to stop hitting the snooze button, your life will truly begin.

road to success…. is paved with FAILURES.

It has to be. How else would you get there?

Success is an uphill battle – everyday. It’s a steep incline up a treacherous mountain that few dare to tread. It is not for everyone. It not only requires hard work, dedication and laser-sharp focus; it requires perseverance and a will to NEVER GIVE UP.

But what most people do not realize is that success also requires FAILURE – and lots of it. In short, our mistakes are what make us great – they push us to become stronger, wiser and more adaptable. They push us to learn and evolve and become keenly resourceful and supremely strategic.

The question isn’t – “are you successful?” It is “have you done the work necessary to BECOME a success.” A lot of people do not want to do the work necessary to become a success, they just want it, expect it, feel entitled to it and put out the bare minimum to get it.

To have a successful career, you have to work HARD at it everyday.

To have a successful relationship, you have to work HARD at it everyday.

To have a successful anything, you have to WORK HARD to earn that success. You do not just get it because you want it.

Nothing good ever comes easy and nothing easy is ever really worth having. Newsflash: if you are looking for anything in your life to “just be easy,” you will get easy, but you will NOT get success. They are two entirely different initiatives. But somehow we forget that. Easy is just that, EASY… it is never better and it will NEVER bring you success.

Success is not for the faint-hearted; its for the few who are extraordinary and who want the best that life has to offer. They are willing to work at it everyday and willing to fail at it everyday in order to get the greatness that they know they deserve. After all, how can you know success if you haven’t first learned to fail? How would you ever appreciate success if you didn’t have to do the work necessary to earn it? You wouldn’t.

Be extraordinary. Do the real HARD WORK to become your own success story – not only in your own life, but in your career and in your key relationships. Don’t be afraid to fail. Failures make you great. Without those failures, you are just living a life of mediocrity – the easy life. Greatness awaits you at the top of the mountain. What are you waiting for? Time to start climbing.

th-2… act like jerks.

They just do.

They don’t mean to act like jerks. They are in pain and they have no choice but to lighten their load of that pain by dumping it onto others. In other words, people in pain only know how to heal themselves by hurting others. Deep seated emotional pain builds over time. And pain is such a heavy burden to carry so when people in pain lash out and spew anger at you, it lightens their load and they feel temporarily better. It’s fairly simple but toxic to the person who bears the brunt of that venom.

People in pain not only lash out at you to release some of that pain but they inadvertently allow that pain to shut them down to you as well. In other words, that pain is so heavy that it blots out any other emotion or ability to connect with others. That pain blocks their ability to be empathetic to your needs, it blocks their ability to hear you when you need help, it blocks their ability to be open in a relationship, it blocks their ability to hear constructive criticism, it blocks their ability to be there for others. It only succeeds in creating an angry, aggressive and selfish being who has allowed their pain to isolate them from the rest of the world.

What to do? When people in pain lash out at you, don’t take it on as yours. Recognize that they are not being jerks for no reason, they are in pain and the only way they know how to cope is to throw it at you. Be the bigger person. Recognize they are in pain and cast their drama aside. It’s not yours to carry. Learn to silently say to yourself, “I recognize you are in pain. I don’t need to add to it, so I will just step over here and you can throw your tantrum on someone else. Have a nice day.”

Fighting back with someone in pain never yields the balance you both deserve. Remember when people are in pain, they act like jerks. Send love to that person and it will help to alleviate some of their pain. No one wants to be a jerk. They just do not have the tools they need to heal.

images… take up MORE space.

They just do. It doesn’t mean that they are better than anyone else, it’s just that they take up MORE space.

People with smaller egos need to occupy the same space as the bigger egos. Herein is the issue. Smaller ego types tend to get pushed out of the room as they have not yet learned how to hold their ground with the big ego.

Either way, smaller egos are generally two types – either extremely accomplished yet humble evolved beings OR they are individuals who do not yet believe in themselves and so they allow the big egos to push them out of the room.

Small egos can become resentful, angry and bitter towards the big egos who generally do not even realize the smaller egos are in the same room with them. The small egos feel as if they are being overlooked, marginalized and pushed out of the room. This is only so because the small ego is ALLOWING IT.

In life, both egos have to co-exist in the same room. Big egos take up more space so it is up to the small ego to learn to hold its ground. The small ego does not have to compete with the big ego, it just has allow itself to be who it is and believe in itself and STAND UP FOR ITSELF and carve out that space that it needs to do its life’s work.

Nothing comes out of allowing a big ego to push you out the door. As a small ego, you lose and the big ego has more room to puff itself up and feel good about itself. There is no competition here. It doesn’t matter how “small” you are, it matters how well you can hold your space in the presence of a big ego. You do not have to be a big ego to hold space with a big ego, you just have to hold the space YOU NEED and never allow it to be compromised. Don’t spend your time resenting a big ego, recognize that there is great strength and beauty in small packages. As long as the package is strong in itself, it will always give the big package a run for its money.

images… it doesn’t change you.

Challenges make you stronger.

Life is hard. It just is. It was never meant to be easy.

We do not learn by living an easy life. We only learn by living through challenging experiences. Those challenging experiences make you a better person. If you can rise to the challenge and transform the pain or fear, it brings you to a far better place.

We have all heard that challenges make you stronger but how exactly? They make you wiser, more alert, more strategic, more willing to take risks, more self-assured, more patient, more confident in your own abilities, more optimistic, more empowered (less of a victim) and more mindful in your approach to life.

You are NEVER a victim. Challenges don’t happen to you to punish you or keep you back in life. They happen to test your resolve and see how strong and conscious you have become on your path. Every time you overcome a perceived challenge, you earn another level of conscious evolution. And on the flip side, every time you allow yourself to fall down and feel sorry for yourself, you take a step back.

Life is always about moving forward and doing whatever you need to do to keep moving forward. Challenges are not roadblocks, they are opportunities to test ourselves to see if we are still growing in the direction we want to be moving or if we have decided to stop growing all together. Victims stop living. Masters create lifetimes of great richness and beauty. The mind is the only difference between the two.

Take control of your life and change your perception the next time you hit a challenge. Don’t let a closed door be an obstacle. Learn to find the key and open the door yourself so you can keep moving forward and create the life you truly deserve.
