… once you’re on it, you’re in for a ride.

And that ride is a tough one.

One negative thought begets another begets another, begets another. Once you set down the path of focusing on self-limiting beliefs, fears and anxieties, you spiral down the rabbit hole burying yourself under your own negative thought forms.

Trains have a tendency to pick up momentum as they barrel along the track. The negativity train is fueled by every fearful, depressing thought you’ve ever had and it gains speed and force along the way. Once that train is moving in a swift self-defeating direction, it’s almost impossible to stop the inevitable.

To stop the negativity train, get out ahead of it. Stop those negative thoughts in their tracks before they gain momentum over you and learn to replace those thoughts with thoughts that are more constructive and more inspiring.

Your life is your own. Don’t let the runaway negativity train take you out. If you don’t stop the momentum before it builds, you’ll never know what hit you.

… you have to LET GO of something.

But many us hold onto the burdens of the past and drag them with us. If there is something that is weighing heavy on you and not uplifting you, it may be time to let it go.

The emotional and physical baggage that we drag along with us never gets lighter, it accumulates until eventually it buries us. What in your life are you not dealing with? What are you dragging around with you? If you allow yourself to keep struggling with someone or something in your life, it only brings you down.

If you want to lighten your load, you have to be willing to let go of what is not working in your life in order to make room for what will. You cannot have both.

No one is burdening you — you are choosing to drag what isn’t working in your life around with you. As soon as you decide that you are ready to let go of what is not working, you will create the space to find what will.

Your baggage is your own. Pack lightly. Remember, you carry it all with you.

… it’s the VIBRATION behind it that makes all the difference.

It’s not what you do, it’s WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU’RE DOING that determines the outcome.

Everything is energy. Your thoughts are always creating your reality. If you do one thing, but THINK SOMETHING ELSE about it, you are undermining the very action you are taking.

Your thoughts must be aligned with the action you are taking or they will NEVER manifest.

For example, if you are pitching new business and you give a presentation, but secretly feel unprepared or as if you don’t have the experience necessary or if you are worried you will never land the account, that vibration is what manifests because it is the dominant vibration you are offering. It is the energy you are putting out into the universe.

Action can only take you so far. Your vibration is what closes the deal.

Don’t waste your time and energy on physical action alone. It is limiting. You can walk the walk, but if your “self talk” is negative, it will take you down.

Energy is everything. It isn’t about the action that you take in life, it’s the vibration behind it that determines the outcome. What’s in your vibration?

… but not always for the reasons you think.

If someone is standing right in front of you, they are there for a reason. That relationship has something to teach you or contribute to you. But it may not be what you are expecting or hoping for.

We tend to label relationships before we understand their purpose in our lives.

Not every relationship is meant to be in your life forever, but it is meant to be in your life for a purpose.

For example…

Not every love relationship leads to marriage. Some guarantee heartache so you can learn what real love doesn’t look like.

Not every business partnership leads to success. Some ensure failure so you’ll understand how to become successful on your own.

Not every friendship leads to lifetime loyalty. Some encourage betrayal so you’ll learn to trust yourself and rely on your own inner power.

Not every employee respects your power. Some challenge it so you can learn to step fully into that power and own it.

Not every team player supports your team’s initiatives. Some push back on them so you can learn to evolve those initiatives in a stronger way.

Relationships may not always give you what you want; but they’ll always give you what they came to give.

Every relationship is purposeful; your only job is to identify the purpose and let it off the hook for everything else.

… doesn’t make things easier for you.

It makes them HARDER.

Things may not always go the way you intended them to go and that has to be ok. Sure it might be upsetting and sure you might have wished you’d done things differently, and sure you might’ve even tried another approach to fix things but unfortunately was unable. What do you do now?

You can’t change what’s done. Focusing on the disappointment of the past keeps you trapped there. Learning the lesson from that experience frees you to move on.

Learning what you will never do again is by far one of the most powerful lessons one can learn. Transformation is never easy. If it doesn’t hurt, it’ll probably never change you.

Being hard on yourself is never the answer. Transformation is hard work. If you beat yourself up over your learning process, you’ll just impede your growth. Mistakes make you better if you learn from them. Don’t waste your time lamenting those mistakes, use that time to apply the learning and make your future better because of it.

… it was coming for you.

Have you ever been blindsided by an event? Was something taken away from you completely out of the blue?

If it was surprisingly ripped away from you and you never saw it coming; YOU WERE MEANT TO LOSE IT.

As humans, we struggle with making the right decisions for ourselves. What if we let go of something and are left with immense regret? We might forever beat ourselves up if we make the wrong decision, right?

Here’s how your life works — if a decision is made BY YOU, you can forever regret it; but if a decision is made FOR YOU, know that THE UNIVERSE HAS CHOSEN IT.

Free will can mess up a lot of stuff. Fate knows better.

Never lament something that is ripped away from you. Trust that universal forces are at play on your behalf. Whatever was taken off your path was NEVER going to stand the test of time.

When you never saw it coming, it was certainly coming for you. Look past the pain. Feel comfort in the decision that the universe made on your behalf. If it wasn’t right for you; it wouldn’t have happened to you. It may not feel very good at the time, but the wisdom of that decision will see to it that you be placed onto a much better path.

… is not a function of life.

It’s a function of LIVING.

It’s not about the number of physical years you’ve lived, but the quality of those years that determines how you age.

You are only as old as you feel and how you feel is a function of how you are currently living.

Our modern lifestyle has increased our chronological age (the age in years) — people live longer these days — but modern living has also increased our biological age (the age of our physical bodies) and those are NOT always the same age.

Modern life includes many factors that speed up your biological age clock. Factors of aging increase cellular turnover and just a few of those modern factors include:

stress

sleep deprivation

chemicals found in processed foods + factory farming

coffee

nicotine

extensive alcohol + drug consumption

negative emotions (depression/anxiety/anger/hatred/bitterness/fear)

states of chronic pain

pharmaceuticals

sun exposure

radiation

Keeping yourself young is not only a physical process, but an emotional and mental one as well. We all know how to alleviate the above triggers of aging, but to stay young, follow these simple rules…

Learn how to be happy.

Learn how to cultivate a positive/optimistic mindset.

Learn how to transform negative emotions into positive ones.

Learn to sit in stillness + contemplation (meditation).

Learn to move negative (toxic) energy out of your body through yoga, acupuncture + reiki.

Learn to dispel negative energy (heavy metals/stress) in your environment through smudging (sage/palo santo/incense/himalayan salt lamps/crystals)

Learn to let the earth ground you — spend time in nature and harness the healing power of its bounty in the form of salt water, herbs, flower essences + aromatherapy oils.

Modern living, negative energy and negative emotions will age you faster then you ever thought possible. If you let the world around you dictate your state of mind and emotions, you’ll fall right into premature aging, but if you learn to cultivate a clean body, inner strength, emotional balance and a peaceful mind — you’ll remain youthful beyond your years. How old do you want to be?
