… not reread.

What’s your story? Is it serving you? Is it bringing you to the place you want to be in your life?

If not, STOP REREADING IT and START REWRITING IT.

You do not have to pack up your history and bring it forward into your destiny. But many of us do.

We do it everyday that we decide we’re going to pack up our negative experiences, thought forms and limited beliefs and define ourselves by them. We do it when we decide that we are a VICTIM of our circumstances rather than a MASTER of them.

Here’s the SECRET: it lies in your perception.

Just because something is true for you, doesn’t mean it has to become your truth. You are in charge of what becomes real for you. And what you give your attention to is what becomes your reality. So, if it isn’t working for you, do not give it any attention and watch it fall away.

The story you tell yourself becomes the story of your life. If that story isn’t working anymore, stop rereading it and start rewriting it. A new chapter is waiting to begin. The question is — are you ready to write it or are you still rereading the last one?

… is not a function of life.

It’s a function of LIVING.

It’s not about the number of physical years you’ve lived, but the quality of those years that determines how you age.

You are only as old as you feel and how you feel is a function of how you are currently living.

Our modern lifestyle has increased our chronological age (the age in years) — people live longer these days — but modern living has also increased our biological age (the age of our physical bodies) and those are NOT always the same age.

Modern life includes many factors that speed up your biological age clock. Factors of aging increase cellular turnover and just a few of those modern factors include:

stress

sleep deprivation

chemicals found in processed foods + factory farming

coffee

nicotine

extensive alcohol + drug consumption

negative emotions (depression/anxiety/anger/hatred/bitterness/fear)

states of chronic pain

pharmaceuticals

sun exposure

radiation

Keeping yourself young is not only a physical process, but an emotional and mental one as well. We all know how to alleviate the above triggers of aging, but to stay young, follow these simple rules…

Learn how to be happy.

Learn how to cultivate a positive/optimistic mindset.

Learn how to transform negative emotions into positive ones.

Learn to sit in stillness + contemplation (meditation).

Learn to move negative (toxic) energy out of your body through yoga, acupuncture + reiki.

Learn to dispel negative energy (heavy metals/stress) in your environment through smudging (sage/palo santo/incense/himalayan salt lamps/crystals)

Learn to let the earth ground you — spend time in nature and harness the healing power of its bounty in the form of salt water, herbs, flower essences + aromatherapy oils.

Modern living, negative energy and negative emotions will age you faster then you ever thought possible. If you let the world around you dictate your state of mind and emotions, you’ll fall right into premature aging, but if you learn to cultivate a clean body, inner strength, emotional balance and a peaceful mind — you’ll remain youthful beyond your years. How old do you want to be?

… is that it’s always changing.

If you’re unhappy with where you are, stick around — it’ll flip soon enough.

Nothing ever stays the same for very long and that’s a good thing. Change is inherent in our universe. What goes up, must come down.

Just like the coin has 2 sides, heads and tails, life has it’s ups and downs. Neither experience is better or worse, they’re just different and provide different learning. And ultimatelyboth sides need to be experienced equally.

Don’t get caught up bemoaning the tails. It’s a waste of your energy. It only keeps you attracting more tails in your life. Remember that for every tail experienced, you get “a-head”, literally.

There’s no good or bad in life, there are only different sides of the coin. Tails are the more challenging experiences that bring you amazing growth. Heads are the rewards for having gotten there. One naturally feels better, the other makes you better. But neither is better than the other.

You want both sides of the coin. They enrich you — they expand you — they push you to your limits — then reward you for your efforts. The flip side of life is that things are always changing and the coin is always flipping. Don’t get caught out lamenting the tails, without them, there would be no heads.

… doesn’t mean you are finished with it.

We think just because it’s behind us that we’re done with our past. But the past doesn’t work that way. The past is only in our past if we have learned what we needed to learn from it and subsequently let it go.

How do you know if you have let it go? You are no longer attached to it.

So if it’s in your past, but you’re still angry about it, you’re still attached to it.

If it’s in your past, but you’re still upset about it, you’re still attached to it.

If it’s in your past, but you’re still hurting over it, you’re still attached to it.

If after all this time, you’re still having a strong emotional response to that person or event, then clearly you are still attached to it and therefore NOT finished with it. For better or worse, it’s very much still alive in your mind and heart.

You cannot run from your past. Unfortunately if you do not deal with it, it will always come back. Your past has a funny way of finding you when it is time to deal with something you’ve buried. So when your past comes back to you, it’s NEVER an unfortunate mishap, it’s the universe’s way of providing you with another opportunity for closure. Take it.

Just because a chapter of your life closes, doesn’t mean you are finished with it. Learn to not only close it, but find the closure in it.

if-something-feels-right… it FEELS right.

You just know it. It doesn’t have to make sense.

In life, it’s all about what you FEEL, not what you KNOW — believe it or not.

In our daily lives, we tend to make decisions from our head, not our heart; therein is our problem.

Decision making can be complicated — our first thought is always from the heart/the intuition/the soul — it gets you excited and enthusiastic about a course of action — “I can do this, I can leave my job and start something new for myself.”

The second thought is born of the head/fear/the ego — it quickly comes in to override your creative impulse and give you every reason why it CAN’T be done — “I can’t do this, I don’t have enough money saved, I don’t have the education or the experience, etc…”

The head is limiting. The heart is expansive.

The head will keep you small by “keeping you safe” while the heart will push you to take chances and will expand you beyond your comfort zone where greatness awaits.

A safe life will NEVER make you great. When making a decision ask yourself WHAT FEELS RIGHT — NOT WHAT YOU THINK IS RIGHT. The right answer is always in HOW YOU FEEL, NOT WHAT YOU KNOW.

Allow yourself to feel your way though your life and if something resonates with you, move in that direction. The resources and the know-how will always follow. You are never without your own guidance system. You will always know if something is right for you because of the way it makes you feel. How are you feeling today?

th-3… changes everything.

How could it not?

Change is the essence of life. Nothing ever stays the same. Life is designed to give us new experiences every so often – if we are open to it. But as humans we tend towards repetitive patterns that are familiar to us and thus make us feel safe. But there is a difference between safety and stagnancy. There is NO safety in staying stuck in your life.

Routine has the tendency to inhibit growth and new experiences. Routine keeps you trapped in your own creation of existence. Routine keeps you small; it prevents you from taking chances in your life that could potentially make all the difference in the world for you.

Time to break the ties that bind you – they are the routines that keep us trapped in cycles and cause a feeling of frustration and stagnancy. Your life will evolve as soon you as you allow yourself to breathe NEW life into it. It is up to you… you have to break the cycle; the cycle will NOT break itself.

So if you are feeling stuck in your life, CHANGE IT UP. Break the monotony. Take a risk. Challenge yourself. Do something different and invite the energy of change into your life. Look at things from a new perspective. Take a trip to a new destination. Experience a new culture. Show the universe that you are indeed ready to have a new experience in your life.

You do NOT have to change everything, you only have to give yourself a simple change of pace – in any one area with any one direction and that will ALWAYS be enough to invite the forces of change to dance with you.

Remember you only have to take one step and the universe will conspire with you to bring you the change you desire and deserve in your life. But that first step has to be yours. Staying still will always keep you stuck in your situation, but a change of pace will absolutely change everything for you. What are you waiting for?

th-4… rewrite your story.

After all, it’s YOURS to rewrite.

We all have a story. Our stories define our lives, but we forget that we are the authors of our stories and that we can rewrite our stories whenever we like.

You are never trapped in your story, if you do not like the chapter you find yourself in, rewrite a new ending – one that better fits you, one that better excites you, one that helps you make amends to the past and inspires you towards a better future.

It doesn’t matter where you have found yourself in your story, you can decide in this moment to change it. You are in full control and can change your story on a dime. If your past is harassing you, erase it and rewrite a new history for yourself and in your next moment, it will become your reality. If you do not like how you have shown up for yourself or others, start now and rewrite your role. Be the YOU you want to be and don’t feel imprisoned by the you you’ve been all along.

If you do not like what you are looking at, change it. You have a general script in place which is your destiny/fate. But you were given free will and that gives you the pencil/eraser to change any and all of it whenever you like. You are never bound to your story, you are always free to explore the parameters of your dreams.

What is holding you up? You are the only one keeping yourself stuck in a story that you’ve outgrown. When you decide to allow yourself to be happy, you will rewrite your story and allow yourself the opportunity to live the life you truly want to live, not the life you consequently find yourself living. There is a difference.

You hold the pen, you are the author, if you are unhappy with what is going on in your life, rewrite your story. Your story begins and ends with you. Why would you give anyone else the pen?
