…. yet we do it anyway.

In life it only matters who YOU are and what YOU are doing with your life. It doesn’t matter what anyone else is doing. When we get caught up in comparing ourselves to others, we dilute the dynamic energy of the self and divert it into negative states such as jealousy, envy and resentment. Those states of behavior are very deconstructive and counterproductive. They keep you small, stuck and spiraling in the wrong direction.

Envying someone for what they have keeps you locked in a state of “wanting and lack,” which is fear based. When you focus on the Self and your dreams, aspirations and hopes (love based), you open yourself up to the many opportunities around you. Things flow easily to you when you focus on the Self whereas when you are focused on what others have, you are locked in a state of lack, and because of that, you keep the very things that you seek far from you.

Time spent looking outside of ourselves for our own worth is wasted. Comparisons do not feed the soul. They do not feed the energy of where it is you want to be in your life. They do the exact opposite – they throw you backwards and lock you into a “wanting” pattern that is hard to get out of. Already believe you have everything that you want and need. Visualize yourself as having the life you want and borrow a tiny bit from that vision every day to make it a reality. We do not get what we want in life by wishing someone else did not have it. We only get it by believing that we, ourselves have the ability to create it for ourselves. Use the people around you as inspiration for you to have the same. Do not begrudge them, bless them and say to yourself, “I admire their lifestyle. I will have that as well” and then watch the doors begin to open. Learn to reframe the situation – turn your resentment into inspiration; it is the key to having the life you want.

… and give the right things a chance to catch up with you.

I can’t take the credit for this one, but I can uniquely define it. In life, it is very common to chase the “wrong” things. We  have a tendency to chase the things we actually do not want in our lives. Why would anyone do that, you may ask? Well, it is rarely ever done consciously, that is for sure. You see, everything in life is energy. Wherever you are putting your thoughts or intentions, that is where your energy goes. Where your energy goes is what you end up “chasing.” It seems to be a complex equation, but a very simple outcome. If you do not want someone or something in your life, do NOT think about them. It is as easy as that. Do not expend your precious energy on manifesting that which does not make you happy.

When you continually mull over a person or situation that has wronged you in the past, you keep your energy locked to that person or situation (for better or worse). When your energy is locked, it is not available to free flow outwards and attract the people and the situations you really do want in your life. It is otherwise occupied. In essence, you end up subconsciously “chasing” after the things you do not want. If you know they are not what you want, it is time to cut your ties to the past which will only ever hold you back and shift your energy forwards. Think ahead, think new, dream big… this will help bring you new situations and encounters that will more realistically match your needs.

Everything is energy. Looking at the past keeps you locked in it – stuck. Break the binds that tie you to the past and stop chasing what you do not want in life. Allow yourself to attract that which you do want and give it a chance to successfully catch up to you. In life we are meant to have everything we have ever wanted, but we subconsciously keep ourselves and our energy pre-occupied with what we do not need in our lives. Life is too short to lament past mistakes and misfortunes. The future, with all your dreams is available at every moment. Seize the day and allow real happiness to catch up with you.

… to start a new year.

Each year we declare a myriad of New Year’s resolutions – most of which never manifest the light of day. We sit idly by as we watch yet another year solemnly pass us by. We tell ourselves in vain that “this year will be different” – “this will be our year” – “this will be the year that everything comes together.” But does it ever really?

How much of our new year’s resolution is actually set as an intention? It is true that we can have whatever it is we want; we just have to want it badly enough to not accept anything less.  Intentions have energy behind them and they will manifest if the appropriate energy ignites them. Our problem is that we weakly state an intention and then walk away expecting the universe/the divine to bring it to our doorstep.  When it doesn’t happen, we use that as an excuse to fall into a negative spiral and sabotage the potential of that intention coming to fruition. In essence, we forego our power and give up on ourselves.

If you could see that everyday you have the ability to dream your highest dream and bring it to life, then we would not waste time carrying around a chest of old & broken resolutions and wear it as a badge of honor. If you are unhappy with where life has brought you to, wake up tomorrow morning and declare a new intention to put things right. Everyday is a chance to wake up anew and create the life you want. But just remember, it doesn’t happen without the high vibrational power of intention.

Wake up to your potential. Set an intention for your new year ahead – declare it so and do not accept anything less. And if you fall off your track, don’t get discouraged get right back up again in the next moment and scream out that intention. With passion behind your intention, you will bring about your resolutions even faster than you can dream them up! Happy New Year!

“Like a bolt out of the blue. Fate steps in and sees you through. When you wish upon a star, your dreams come true.” – Cora Hume

Miracles do happen. Dreams do come true.  As creative beings, we are meant to dream big and visualize our desires so that they can manifest here on earth. As children we understand this concept and enjoy the process of dreaming. As adults, there is a tendency for us to become restricted in our thinking and in our ability to dream our ideal outcome. Life gets in the way of our dreams and we spend more and more time expending our brain power on worries, anxieties and fears. We have desensitized our hearts and passions and chosen to place our beliefs on “what appears to be” instead of “what could be.”

Just like the little grasshopper who was trained to jump only so high as his lid to the glass jar would allow, we become entrapped by our own restrictions and begin to believe in them far after the glass lid has been removed. Don’t stop jumping for the stars. A wise friend of mine recently quoted, “chase down your passion like it is the last bus of the night.” Surrendering your dreams is the worst betrayal of the heart. Believe in yourself. Believe in your ability to create the life of your dreams. Dream big and dream often. Dreams come true – it can definitely happen to you.
